The African Action Congress (AAC) has inaugurated its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council for its candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and his running mate, Magashi.

The party said the move signals an intensified push to mobilise Nigerians ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

In a statement signed by Acting National Chairman, Samuel Ajeigbe, and National Secretary, Oshlokhue Phillip Ikpeminoghena, the AAC described the inauguration as a major step in building a nationwide structure around the Sowore-Magashi ticket.

According to the party, the council comprises political strategists, organisers, policy advocates, media professionals, digital campaigners, election specialists, legal practitioners, finance personnel and grassroots mobilisers.

The council is mandated to coordinate campaign activities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

It will be led by Director-General Abdullahi Usman, with deputies in charge of Strategy and Political Affairs and Diaspora and Resource Mobilisation, while Juwon Sanyaolu will serve as Secretary.

The AAC also announced 10 national directorates to drive the campaign, including Strategy and Policy; Grassroots Mobilisation; Labour and Civil Society Engagement; Publicity and Communications; Digital Media; Data and Technology; Election Operations; Finance; Legal and Compliance; and Administration and Field Operations.

It said the structure will cascade to the grassroots through state, local government, ward and polling-unit coordinators.

The network, the party said, will involve volunteers, canvassers, polling agents and supporters as it seeks to establish a full national presence.

The AAC noted that its SOWORENOW app has already played a key role in coordinating supporters, stressing that the new council is meant to upscale and deepen the existing digital mobilisation infrastructure.

The party said it will combine digital technology with physical grassroots organisation to take its message to Nigerians in cities and rural communities.

“This election is not merely about changing the occupant of Aso Rock; it is about changing the political direction of Nigeria,” the AAC said, accusing the old political order of failing Nigerians.

The party called on Nigerians who believe the country can be governed differently to join the campaign, saying reclaiming the country requires active participation of the people.
