Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra agitator and separatist, has issued a caution to the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr. Richard Montgomery, regarding his involvement in fueling conflicts in the Southeast region.

In a statement shared on his official Twitter handle, Ekpa, a Finland-based lawyer and Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile, expressed his concerns. He responded to Montgomery’s tweet about meeting Governor Peter Mbah in Enugu to discuss investment, trade collaboration, and economic opportunities.

Ekpa informed Montgomery that it was inappropriate to discuss investment in a conflict zone. He raised doubts about the activities of the British High Commission, suggesting they might contribute to the conflicts in the Southeast.

Furthermore, Ekpa cautioned Montgomery against interfering with the call for a Biafra referendum. He emphasized that supporting the self-referendum of Biafra would contribute to lasting peace in the region.

He wrote, “You are talking about investment in a conflict zone? Are you aware that Biafrans are fighting for an independent state? Your activities with the government will definitely fuel the crises.”

Ekpa went on to highlight the situation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who is currently detained in Nigeria and demanded his release. He questioned whether Montgomery listened to the concerns of UK citizens or if citizens were expected to listen to him.

Through his message, Ekpa cautioned Montgomery to refrain from exacerbating conflicts in the Southeast and stated that investment in Biafra territory would be impossible under the current circumstances.

Ekpa’s reaction was prompted by Montgomery’s recent meeting with Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, which took place on Tuesday.
