Russian President Vladimir Putin has addressed the recent events involving the Wagner Group, referring to the situation as an “armed mutiny” and an act of treason. During an emergency televised address, Putin emphasized that those who have taken up arms against the Russian military will face severe punishment.

Putin expressed his commitment to protecting Russia and stated that decisive action would be taken to stabilize the situation in Rostov-on-Don, a southern city where Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed his forces had seized control of military installations.

In his address, Putin directly appealed to the Wagner forces involved in the provocation of a military rebellion. He emphasized the need for unity, consolidation, and responsibility during these critical times.

The Russian President made it clear that individuals deliberately involved in acts of treason and planning armed rebellion, including preparations for terrorist attacks, will face consequences for their actions. Putin stressed that any internal turmoil poses a grave threat to the statehood of Russia, its people, and the efforts to protect the homeland. He underscored that such threats would be met with a severe response.

Putin’s remarks highlight the seriousness with which the Russian government views acts of treason and rebellion, emphasizing the importance of national unity and security in the face of internal challenges.
