IPOB maintains that the lead counsels of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, namely Mike Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, have not been dismissed. According to Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of IPOB, any statement suggesting that Kanu’s family has sacked Ozekhome and Ejiofor should be disregarded. Powerful further emphasized that since Ozekhome and Ejiofor are lawyers representing IPOB, they cannot be dismissed by Kanu’s family.IPOB Reaffirms Retention of Lead Counsels Ozekhome and Ejiofor
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has reiterated that the lead counsels representing their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, namely Mike Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor, have not been dismissed. Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of IPOB, called the claims made by Kanu’s family members regarding the dismissal of Ozekhome and Ejiofor “laughable rumors” that should be disregarded.
Powerful emphasized that both Ozekhome and Ejiofor are lawyers representing IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, and therefore cannot be sacked by Kanu’s family. He urged Biafrans and supporters of Biafra’s freedom to ignore the alleged statement from Kanu’s family, highlighting that Kanu considers IPOB members as his brothers and sisters.
Powerful further stated that the legal representation contract between IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and the two lead counsels remains intact. He urged the legal team not to be distracted or discouraged in their fight for Kanu’s unconditional release from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody, as mandated by the courts.
Asserting that the intentions of IPOB and Kanu’s adversaries are to provoke the lead counsels and make them abandon Kanu, Powerful assured that the legal team is experienced enough to withstand intimidation and blackmail.
He also emphasized that Kanu’s detention is not due to his family but rather his role as a leader fighting for Biafra’s freedom. Powerful cautioned against individuals claiming to speak for Kanu in DSS custody, noting that Kanu’s focus extends beyond his family as he represents the entire Biafran nation.
In conclusion, Powerful urged caution, stating that Kanu is a leader and a national asset for Biafrans, and he must be protected from those with ulterior motives.
