The Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has said universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions will drive the mobilisation of 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Alausa, who is the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) Education Mobilisation Working Group, Abuja, disclosed this on Sunday while congratulating President Tinubu on the successful launch of the campaign in Kaduna State.
According to the Minister, the massive turnout at the Kaduna launch reflects the confidence of Nigerians in the Renewed Hope Agenda, and has energised the education mobilisation group to fully mobilise support for the President’s re-election.
Alausa, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, said the Education Mobilisation Working Group will work closely with stakeholders across universities, polytechnics, monotechnics, colleges of education and other institutions nationwide to achieve the target of mobilising 10 million votes.
Alausa said the Ministry’s Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative, with its six-pillar reforms including Technical and Vocational Education and Training, the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure, investment in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medical Sciences, and interventions for out-of-school children and girl-child education, is opening new opportunities for young Nigerians and positioning education as a driver of skills, innovation and national development.
He noted that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training programme has received more than 1.3 million applications, matched 160,000 young Nigerians with training opportunities and disbursed approximately ₦13.98 billion to training centres and trainees.
He noted that the EduRevamp teacher development platform has recorded over 51,500 teachers, adding that these achievements will further strengthen confidence in the administration.
