The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Kawu, has promised equitable development across the state if elected, saying his tour of communities in Baruten Local Government Area was aimed at listening to residents, identifying their challenges and developing practical and sustainable solutions to address them.
He said the tour was designed to have first-hand interaction with the people and understand their daily struggles beyond political reports and statistics.
According to him, many communities in Baruten still face serious challenges including poor access roads, inadequate healthcare, decaying school infrastructure and lack of economic opportunities for youths and farmers.
He noted that despite Baruten’s huge agricultural potential and its contribution to food security in the state, the area has suffered neglect in terms of government presence and development projects.
The PDP candidate reaffirmed his vision of a Kwara State where communities receive equitable attention and no part of the state is treated as less important.
He said every resident, regardless of location, deserves access to quality education, functional healthcare, economic opportunities and security.
”Baruten deserves better. Kwara North deserves better. And every part of Kwara State deserves a government that listens, cares and delivers,” he said.
Kawu assured that his blueprint for Kwara is built on inclusive governance where development planning is driven by the actual needs of the people at the grassroots.
He said his administration, if elected, will ensure balanced allocation of resources and projects that directly improve the living conditions of rural communities.
The candidate called for greater attention to the needs of residents in Kwara North, stressing that genuine development must be felt in villages and farm settlements, not only in the state capital.
Kawu maintained that government performance should ultimately be measured by improvements in the living conditions of the people, rather than media propaganda.
He promised that concerns raised by residents during the tour have been documented and will form a core part of his development agenda for Kwara State.
