Troops of Sector 6, Operation Enduring Peace, have recovered the body of a man identified as Joseph Dachung in a bush near Fwil village in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Sector 6 and made available to journalists in Jos.
According to the statement, the body was discovered at about 7:30 a.m. on September 12, 2026, during a search operation launched following an incident of cattle rustling in the area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Dachung had been reported missing by members of the community on September 9, which raised concerns about his whereabouts.
The troops recovered the body from the bush and handed it over to the community for further necessary action.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. However, security personnel say they have intensified offensive operations in the general area to track criminal elements and prevent further incidents.
The discovery comes amid heightened security operations across parts of Plateau State, where troops have intensified patrols and searches following recent attacks and other criminal activities.
