The Managing Director of Part Central Limited, Mr Henry Onifade, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to keeping Nigeria’s waterways free from pollution.
Onifade stated this in Lekki, Lagos, during a recent chat with selected journalists. This comes weeks after the official unveiling of the National Inland Waterways Authority-Part Central Inland Waterways Clean-up Initiative.
Recently, it was reported that during the official unveiling of the clean-up initiative, stakeholders urged the adoption of sustainable measures to clean Nigeria’s waterways and unlock their full economic potential.
However, giving an update on the unveiling, Onifade said, “We are happy that we can even think of possible pollution-free waterways and bring it and roll it out. Since our rollout, we have heard of different people, different associations, organisations and states that are now talking about it, which is very good for us.
“Our goal is for us to have pollution-free waterways. By God’s grace, we will integrate everybody who has a very good and genuine mindset that having pollution-free waterways is possible in Nigeria.”
Onifade stressed that waste was no longer a problem on the nation’s waterways, as it was increasingly being transformed into wealth. He emphasised that after sorting the plastic waste, the company would recycle the biodegradables into other things.
“Those biodegradables are something that we will still recycle for different things. So, there is nothing that’s a waste, and you know a lot of things are involved now,” he stated.
