Nigeria’s President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been admonished to hit the ground running on assumption of office on May 29 with people-centred programmes that would drastically reduce the suffering and poverty among the citizenry.

The Spiritual Father and Chairman, Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Prophet Samuel Adefila Abidoye, who decried the extreme poverty ravaging Nigeria and its people, gave the charge while addressing the press on the Church’s week-long 54th Ascension of the Horeb event holding at the Church’s Galilee land, Orile Igbon, Oyo state, between 7th and 14th May, 2023.

Horeb is one of the major programmes of the Church, which, according to the Spiritual Father, is an opportunity for the people to come together and interact spirituality, and particularly to pray for the Nation and the World at large.

The Church leader, who lamented that poverty has ravaged the land and has adversely affected the standard of living of the people, stressed the urgency for the incoming government to inject new lease of life into the economy by reviving all moribund infrastructure and establishing new ones towards providing employment opportunities for the citizenry, particularly the teeming youths, so that they could have confidence in the system.

Decrying the ravaging insecurity across the country which has planted enormous panic and fear in the minds of the citizenry, and has not been making them to sleep with their two eyes closed, the Spiritual Father urged the incoming government to seriously address and tackle head-on the seemingly intractable hydra headed problem by reining in the unscrupulous and undesirable elements in the society, noting that security is the spring board for any meaningful development

He said: “The incoming government should as a matter of urgency hit the ground running with people-oriented programmes as poverty is seriously affecting Nigerians. The government should create conducive environment for business to thrive for people to make ends meet.

“They should also revive the moribund infrastructure, make the railway work to lessen the pressure on the road, give attention to road construction and rehabilitation to stem carnage and wanton loss of lives on our death-trapped roads.

“Most importantly, security is key and should be addressed squarely as this is the spring board for any meaningful development. Killing in whatever name is bad, and should stop.

“Government should be proactive in addressing some of the needs of the people in the areas of unemployment, insecurity and health, among others, for them to have confidence in the system.”

The Spiritual Father disclosed that the Church’s Galilee has continued to witness tremendous improvement and development in all ramifications, especially in the areas of education, health, economic and structures.

This year’s Horeb, which is themed, “Higher Ground”, is expected to be attended by no fewer than 10,000 congregants from across the world.
