President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended the security agencies over the rescue of the 46 abducted school children and teachers in Oriire community of Oyo state
He also expressed joy over the operation and freedom for the kidnapped children and teachers from Oriie Community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the president on Information and Strategy Mr. Bayo Onanuga “The President praised the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Department of Sate Service (DDS), the Nigerian Police Force, and other security agencies for their collaboration in ensuring safe release of the victims without collateral damage. The operation also resulted in the arrest of eight suspected abductors and the neutralization of other members of the criminal group.”
Tinubu acknowledged the emotional trauma that was endured by the victims and their families throughout the period of captivity. He assured the victims and the public that the Federal Government will continue to be resilient in ensuring the safety of its citizens.
“This successful military operation has ended the siege and standoff of over 50 days and has brought relief to the entire nation and the affected families in particular. On behalf of the country, I express my gratitude to the officers and men of our armed forces, the intelligence agencies and the police for the safe rescue of the children and their teachers,” he stated.
The president also commended the Oyo State Government for its cooperation throughout the rescue efforts and urged the state government to strengthen security measures around schools to prevent similar incident.
“I must commend the government of Oyo State for working competitively with us in bringing this unfortunate incident to a successful end,” the President said
In addition, Tinubu has directed relevant emergency agencies to work closely with the Oyo State Government to provide the rescued pupil;s and teachers with medical care and other services to aid their recovery.
“My government will ensure justice for theses children and their teachers, as well as for the family of Mr.Oyedokun, who tragically lost his life during the incident,” the President stated.
He stated that government remains committed to improving national security, protecting educational institutions, and ensuring that every Nigerian child can learn in a safe and secure environment.
