    Algeria sacks Petkovic, targets Super Eagles’ coach, Chelle

    ‎The Algerian Football Federation (AFF) has sacked the coach that led The Desert Foxes to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Vladimir Petkovic.

    ‎Daily NewsCraft reports that The Desert Foxes were defeated by Switzerland 2-0 in their Round of 32 clash at BC Place in Vancouver on Friday, July 3.

    ‎Following the defeat, the Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has again been linked with the top coaching position of Algeria.

    ‎Various reports out of Algeria have suggested that the former Mali coach is a top target for the North African nation.

    ‎Chelle was previously linked with this position during the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

    ‎The National Sports Commission (NSC) recently announced that Chelle has agreed to a contract to continue as Super Eagles coach until 2030.
