‎Former Federal Capital Territory, FCT senatorial aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Aisha Yesufu, has triggered fresh political debate ahead of the 2027 general elections after declaring that voting the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, amounts to endorsing terrorism.

‎The outspoken activist made the remark on Sunday in a statement posted on her verified X account, amid growing public concern over killings, kidnappings and attacks in several parts of Nigeria.

‎Yesufu, a co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, accused the APC-led administration of failing to address the country’s security crisis and urged Nigerians to use their votes to effect change.

‎“Any vote for APC is vote for these terrorists to continue what they are doing,” she declared.

‎She also called on eligible Nigerians aged 18 and above to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), saying electoral participation remains the most effective way to change the country’s political direction.

‎According to her, “the miracle people have been praying for is more accessible with their PVCs,” urging citizens to translate their frustrations into votes during the next election.

‎Her comments are expected to further heat up political discourse as opposition figures intensify attacks on the ruling party ahead of 2027.

‎The APC has repeatedly defended its handling of security, maintaining that the administration has recorded significant gains against insurgency, banditry and other violent crimes despite ongoing attacks in parts of the country.

‎Yesufu’s latest remarks add to a wave of criticism from opposition politicians and civil society groups who argue that insecurity and economic hardship should dominate campaign discussions leading to the 2027 polls.
