The All Progressives Congress, APC, is in mourning following the death of Alhaja Sidikat Basiru, mother of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru at the age of 92 years.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the late matriarch as a devout Muslim, compassionate mother, and pillar of her family whose life was defined by faith, sacrifice, and service.
“Alhaja Basiru dedicated her life to raising her children with strong moral values, discipline, and the fear of Allah. She leaves behind a legacy of integrity, generosity, and exemplary character,” the party said.
The APC noted that her virtues and devotion to Islam were evident in Senator Basiru’s public service and in the achievements of her other children.
On behalf of National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, the National Working Committee, leaders, members, and supporters, the party conveyed heartfelt condolences to Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family.
The APC also prayed that Almighty Allah forgives her shortcomings, accepts her righteous deeds, and grants her eternal rest in Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
Senator Basiru assumed office as the National Secretary of the APC on August 3, 2023.
