    ADC Primary elections: Hon Youmpang Jalmet   drags Dalung, INEC to court

    Aspirant for the Plateau South  Senatorial District, HonYoumpang Jalmet , has dragged the Former  Minister  Barr.Solomon Dalung  and African Democratic Congress, ADC,and Independence National Electoral Commission, INEC to the Federal High Court, Jos, challenging the outcome of the party’s primary election in the senatorial district of Plateau South.

     

     

    The  Former South  Senatorial  Chairman  Jalmet  alleging imposition of a candidate in person of Former Minister SolomonDalung , saying there was no fair hearing  in the whole exercise  when he( Dalung)  was away  conducting the same election monitoring in Nasarawa state.

     

     

    Speaking  to his counsel, Barr.M.I.Kanam after the court adjourned to the  22nd Day of  June 2026 for  mention

     

     

    Hon Justice  Dorcas Agishi  ordered  the counsel  to effect service on the Former Minister  Dalung  and INEC ,warning that  the case is preelection matter and is time bound  so they should do the needful.

     

     

     

    He said the ADC did not follow due process before declaring Solomon  Dalung as consensus candidate for Plateau South , insisting that the attitude of the ADC is a clear disdain for democracy and the internal democracy of political parties in the country.

     

     

    He  said serious measures must be taken to forestall further abuse of the law by persons in authority to avert chaos, lawlessness and dictatorship, adding that the continued abuse of the law by the defendants would ruin society and retard it to nothingness.

     

     

     

    The aspirant for Plateau Sorth Senatorial District ticket, filed the suit against the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Barr.Dalung  at the Federal High Court, Jos, Plateau State.

     

     

    Counsel to Jalmet, M.I.Kanam  Esq., filed a suit , praying the court to interpret some constitutional and statutory provisions and determine the following questions of law:

     

     

     

    “An order of this Honourable Court directing the Defendants to henceforth consolidate and sustain party internal democracy by ensuring credible elections for the nomination of candidates for elective positions and upholding the rule of law;

     

     

    in a swift reaction, the Former Minister Solomon Dalung  said  that  there is no constitutional provision that was infringed upon  or that stop him from  contesting  for seat of Plateau South Senatorial District  ,stressing that  he conducted  Nasarawa primary elections that  produced  General Bala  Ngbazo .

     

     

    According to him, the State Electoral committee were on ground  so he doesn’t need to be present at the venue of the consensus exercise .

     

     

    it’s also alleged that those sponsoring  Youmpee Jalmet were aggrieved aspirants from Kaduna and Nasarawa  states .

     

     

    This  medium  couldn’t  gathered  authentic sources to allegations ,as efforts  to speak to Youmpee Jalmet  proof abortive at the time of filing this  reports  .

     

     

    However, parties alleged impunity, imposition of candidates by the ADC in Plateau State  especially on the Senatorial seat of Plateau South  .

     

     

    Dalung  admonished any aggrieved aspirants to  read the constitution of the ADC and understand the interpretation  .
