The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a scheduled preventive maintenance exercise at its Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substation, with assurances that electricity supply to affected consumers will be restored daily after work activities are completed.

In a statement issued on Friday, the General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, said the maintenance exercise began on June 4 and is expected to run until June 16, 2026. The daily maintenance operations will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

According to TCN, the maintenance project is aimed at facilitating the connection of a bus coupler circuit breaker and rehabilitating five isolators on the substation’s main busbar. The company explained that the upgrades are intended to enhance the reliability, efficiency, and overall performance of electricity transmission across the region.

As part of the maintenance process, several 33kV feeders supplied from the Effurun and Delta 132/33kV Transmission Substations will be temporarily shut down during the daily maintenance period. The affected feeders include Effurun, Warri, Sapele, Osubi, PTI, PMSL, Refinery I, Refinery II, Enerhen, Isoko/Kwale, Otovwodo/Patani, Ughelli/Shell, Agbarho/Eku, Aladja, Moneyman, and Beta Glass feeders.

The temporary shutdowns are expected to affect electricity supply to customers served by these feeders during the maintenance hours. However, TCN reassured residents, businesses, and industrial consumers that power would be restored each day once maintenance activities are concluded.

“Power supply will be restored daily at 5:00 p.m. following the completion of maintenance activities, allowing Benin DisCo to off-take electricity for distribution to customers,” the statement noted.

The transmission company emphasized that the preventive maintenance exercise forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s power transmission infrastructure and improve service delivery nationwide.

While expressing regret over the inconvenience that may arise from the temporary outages, TCN appealed to consumers in the affected areas for patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the maintenance period.

The company reiterated its commitment to continuous investment in critical transmission infrastructure, stressing that regular maintenance and system upgrades remain essential to ensuring a more stable, reliable, and efficient electricity supply across the country.
