Gov Ortom not cooperating with Fr Alia

All Progressives Congress, APC Benue State chapter has alleged that since the declaration by INEC it’s candidate Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia as governor-elect in the 2023 general election and subsequent presentation of certificate of return, the outgoing government of Samuel Ortom has completely ignored, neglected and treated with utmost desdain the winner Father Alia.
Making the allegations yesterday, while reacting to media reports credited to Fr.Alia in a statement signed by director of communications in the defunct campaign organization for Alia/ Ode Mr Tersoo Kula said the governor-elect took the decision to make a formal communication to heads of government’s, parastatals and financial institutions which the PDP described as hasty in good faith and in the interest of Benue public.
The director of communications further argued that where principles of public policy are valued, the day Reverend Father Alia was presented certificate of return, he was expected to become a respected property of the state who should be accorded due rights and privileges as the custodian of the Benue people’s mandate, adding that it is as well the duty of the state to provide the governor-elect with a special accommodation, official cars, take over his feeding and that of his staff as well as visitors but denied that Ortom’s government has not shown commitment in the expected norms.
He equally alleged that where there is a mutual defined concern about the development of a state, the outgoing governor would willingly cease to make unilateral decisions on policy issues, stressing that Ortom who should make policy decisions in due consultation with the incoming government to avoid conflicting actions on administrative issues such as the ones under discourse has failed to do so.
” For the purpose of clarity,on the day the president- elect and all governors-elect collected their certificates of return they had cease to being ordinary citizens and as such are supposed to be receiving every detail briefings which is a process of power transition” the statement revealed, adding that every security briefing given to the outgoing administration ought to be submitted to the heads of the incoming administration.
Mr Kula lamented that it is rather sad that all decisions taken by the Ortom administration presently negate every known principles of public policy, advising people of sound reasoning not to join mischief makers to mislead unsuspecting members of the public on concocted misrepresentations of due process in the power transition in Benue State.
According to the director of communications, if raising an alarm on issues wrongly handled by an outgoing government would be termed desperity by some elements who are rigidly fixated on the negative lane of logic,so be it, suggesting that desperate situations required desperate measures to fix.
He further argued that where public interest is involved as it is glaring in the present circumstance, any citizen including Father Alia who is a son of the soil could step in to save the state, citing instances in Abia where a similar alarm was raised by indigenes of the state which prompted the courts to order the freezing of all accounts of the state government.
Mr Kula expressed worry whether those raising issues of law and public policy principles are not bothered that an administration that avoided recruiting into civil service people on grounds of paucity of funds and over bloated wage bill for 7 years and 9 months of it’s tenure would in a dramatic twist embark on massive recruitment of thousands in the civil service barely two months to the expiration of it’s tenure where those already in service are still being owed several months of arrears.
Mr Kula who alleged that governor Ortom in his first term in office said he would recruit 5000 teachers a promise he never fulfilled, expressed worry why he would embark on the exercise at a time he is already at the exit point
