     Third anniversary: Kebbi NLC felicitates Idris,tasks him on improved workers welfare

    Nigeria labour Congress, Kebbi state council has congratulated the governor and people of Kebbi state for attaining three years in office.
    Kebbi state NLC in a statement signed by the state Chairman, comrade Murtala Usman described Idris led three years in office as eventful and memorable giving his rapid turn around in almost all the critical sectors in Kebbi state.
    The statement further adds that the governor’s labour friendly prompted the need to appreciate him to encourage him to do more for Kebbi civil servants.
    Usman noted that, as former unionist he didn’t disappoint workers as he fully implemented seventy five thousand minimum wage to Kebbi civil servants and at the same maintains prompt payments of salaries, pensions and gratuities.
    According to him, the last three years witnessed revamp in health sector where he built and renovated general hospitals across the state, employed teachers to boost education and ended staff casualisation across all the ministries , boards and paratatals.
    However, the commissioning of ultra modern state secretariat is also worthy of commendations .
    Usman also lauded Kebbi government for providing fifty busses to ease burden of public transportation on workers and the people of Kebbi state even as he described the employments of two thousand teachers to boost educational drive in the state as timely.
    The union pledged to pursue vigorously all the rights and previliges of workers at all levels in the state through lawful engagements with the government.
    ” Let me use this opportunity to call on Kebbi state government to build affordable housing units in the state to reduce housing deficits, because civil servants in the state are facing housing problems despite the existing housing estates”.
    He urged Kebbi state government to include the organized labour in the houses distribution committee so that politicians will not be able to block workers from getting housing allocations saying often times housing allocations are taken by politicians leaving workers high and dry.
