The governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris,on Wednesday joined hundreds of Muslims faithfuls at the main Eid ground to perform prayers symbolic of Eid adha in Birnin Kebbi.
Idris, was received at the praying ground amid cheering people by the emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar and his council members along side top government officials who throng the Eid praying ground to mark the commencement of annual sacrifice as authorized by God.
In his sallah message, shortly after concluding the two rakats prayers appeal to the people of the state to pray for the success of his administration and that of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu saying prayers for leaders direct them to right path and help them to achieve success in terms of good governance which is critical to the provisions of democratic dividends to the people.
“We gathered here today in your midst to seek Allah’s forgiveness and proper direction to responsible and all inclusive governance, you are all living witnesses to what we have done in two years in terms of infrastructure and human capacity building and we will do more with your support and prayers “.
He admonished Muslims faithfuls in the state to use the period to pray for peace and to maintain existing unity in the country even as he urged politicians in the state to avoid political deception.
The Emir of Gwandu in message appealed to Kebbi people to continue to pray for peace and unity and to ensure moral training of their children at all stages of life.
The monarch also urged people of Kebbi state to support the government of governor Nasir Idris and pray for peace and unity in the country.
However, the entire Kebbi was enveloped by aroma of roasting animals symbolizing the commencement Eid adha rituals.
