    ‎Police arrest six suspects over Ishinkwo monarch murder, recover AK-47

    ‎Operatives of the Ebonyi State Police Command have arrested six suspects in connection with the killing of the traditional ruler of Ishinkwo Community, HRH Eze Josephat Nnanna Ikegwu.

    ‎The command said the arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation into the murder, which occurred at the monarch’s residence on 2nd April 2026.

    ‎This was disclosed in a press release signed by SP Joshua Ukandu, Police Public Relations Officer for the Ebonyi State Command, dated  today, 26th May 2026 and issued to Journalists in Abakaliki.

    ‎Those arrested are: Ucha Johnson, Ogobuchi Igwe, Nkpuma Nwankwo, Edwin Onwoshi, Itumo Joseph, and Emmanuel Nwaoba.

    ‎During the operation, police also recovered one AK-47 rifle loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.

    ‎Reacting to the development, Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State Command, CP Hope Urunwa Okafor, said the command remains committed to ensuring justice is served.

    ‎“No individual involved in criminality will be allowed to evade justice,” Okafor stated. She assured residents that the command would continue working to rid the state of violent crimes and ensure offenders face the consequences of their actions.

    ‎Our Correspondent reports that the suspects are set to be assigned today, Tuesday, the the Magistrate Court, Abakaliki.
