Reports from the Plateau South Senatorial District of Plateau State indicated that the election was not conducted due to disagreements arising from alleged candidate imposition.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday failed woefully to conduct Senatorial primary elections across the 17 local government areas of Plateau State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with some Senatorial Districts decried of absence of the electoral committee saddle with the responsibility to conduct the exercise.
Speaking to journalists in Langtang North LGA ,Comr Peter Timkat one the monitoring APC stakeholder lamented that at about 7pm no single official was sighted but alleged fear of hijacking the election amid protests over alleged candidate imposition.
According to him,in Plateau South Local Government Areas , four aspirants are contesting which include Sen.Simon Bako Lalong ,AVM Napoleon Bali,Sen.Victor Lar ,Dr Nanzing Nden and Hon Komsol for the APC ticket for the senatorial seat.
However, incumbent Senator Simon Lalong was alleged tip as a favour from the race, leaving the remaining aspirants to continue the contest on ground of no election took place across the 17 LGAs .
Party supporters were waiting for the officials to arrive but empty wall greeted media and election monitoring team .
Pastor Nansel Nanla one of the voter in Kwampe Federal ward expressed sadness over the absent of the APC electoral committee in the area .
Although the exercise was largely peaceful in many parts of the state, some wards experienced delays in the commencement of voting due to the large turnout of party supporters and logistical challenges.
Despite the delays, party officials and security personnel maintained order throughout the exercise, while no violence or major disruption was reported in Plateau South Senatorial District .
Meanwhile, reports indicated that the primary election could not hold following allegations of candidate imposition involving the incumbent member high power from National .
Aggrieved party members were said to have protested against the development.
While many APC members commended the generally peaceful conduct of the primaries across most parts of the state, some aggrieved party faithful alleged irregularities and accused certain officials of manipulating the process.
As of the time of filing this report, no election took place , with party members expressing concern over delays caused by the absence of officials at the centres.
The primaries form part of the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections as aspirants seek the party’s tickets for various elective positions across Plateau State might inflict injuries to them if urgent step are not address.
Comr.Timkat called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and rescue the party from anarchy of few greedy politicians
