GIDEON INYOM CLINCHES APC TICKET FOR BURUKU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

    Published on

Hon. Gideon Dooyum Inyom has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries for Buruku Federal Constituency in Benue State, defeating incumbent Hon. Sekav Iyortyom in a decisive contest.

His victory marks a significant political shift within the constituency and positions him as a fresh voice with strong academic, professional, and grassroots credentials.

Hon. Gideon Inyom’s emergence is not merely a numerical victory; it represents a generational transition within the APC and a growing appetite among party stakeholders for development-driven and reform-oriented leadership aligned with the vision of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

By securing the party’s ticket with strong grassroots backing and overwhelming support across political blocs, Inyom demonstrated both political acceptability and expanding influence within Buruku politics. The scale of mobilization and public enthusiasm surrounding his emergence further reflects the depth of his political capital and the confidence many stakeholders place in his ability to provide effective representation.

Inyom is not new to political contests. In 2019, he contested for the Senate ticket for Benue North-West Senatorial District (Zone B), an experience that helped deepen his political networks, constituency engagement, and strategic understanding of the political terrain. His current emergence is therefore seen by many as the culmination of years of political growth, relationship building, and grassroots investment.

Academically, Hon. Inyom holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Development Studies, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies. He also earned an Executive Certificate in Innovation for Economic Development from the Harvard Kennedy School, USA.

Professionally, he served as Senior Special Assistant on ICT to former Benue State Governor, Senator Gabriel Suswam, where he pioneered digital governance initiatives and contributed to the modernization of government communication systems.

He is also the founder of I-Compliance Tech Nig. Ltd, a technology firm through which he conceptualized anti-corruption software years ahead of Nigeria’s whistleblower policy framework, while also developing advanced surveillance and security concepts targeted at addressing rural insecurity and terrorism.

Beyond politics and technology, Inyom has consistently maintained a visible voice during humanitarian and security crises affecting Benue communities. During the August 2025 attacks in Guma Local Government Area, he actively documented issues relating to displacement, land seizures, and humanitarian conditions while calling for coordinated interventions and long-term policy responses.

His blend of academic rigor, systems thinking, technological innovation, and grassroots activism positions him as a development-focused leader with strong interests in infrastructure-led growth, governance reforms, digital innovation, security policy, and constituency development.

The APC leadership has commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries and urged all candidates and stakeholders to consolidate party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Political observers view Inyom’s candidacy as strategically important to strengthening the APC’s position within Buruku Federal Constituency and consolidating broader support for the party within Benue State.

Hon. Gideon Inyom’s emergence therefore represents more than a political milestone; it signals the rise of a new generation of leadership where innovation, intellectual depth, grassroots engagement, and strategic development thinking converge to redefine representation for the people of Buruku Federal Constituency.
