The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) on Thursday, 14th May 2026, held a sensitization programme at Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen awareness and expand access to the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.

The Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, was represented at the event by the Director of Human Resources, Dr. Zino Ugboma, who delivered the Fund’s message to students, management, and other stakeholders present at the programme.

In his remarks, Dr. Ugboma reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to ensuring that no qualified Nigerian student is denied access to tertiary education due to financial constraints.

He encouraged students of the institution to take advantage of the NELFUND initiative, describing it as a transformative intervention aimed at promoting access, equity, and educational advancement across the country.

The programme also provided an avenue for extensive engagement with students and institutional representatives on the application process, eligibility requirements, and the benefits of the scheme.

Participants commended the Federal Government and NELFUND for the initiative and expressed optimism about its impact on students and the education sector at large.

The event formed part of NELFUND’s nationwide sensitization drive targeted at ensuring increased awareness and participation among tertiary institutions and students across Nigeria.
