    Published on

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Oyo State, Professor Olaniyi Jacob Babayemi, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, at the Fund’s headquarters in Abuja.

Professor Babayemi, who was accompanied by the institution’s Bursar, said the visit formed part of ongoing efforts to engage critical stakeholders and facilitate the inclusion of the university’s students in the NELFUND student loan scheme.

He commended the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing NELFUND, describing the initiative as a transformative step towards expanding access to higher education and reducing the financial burden on students and their families.

The Vice Chancellor noted that the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, a relatively new institution that commenced academic activities less than two years ago, is determined to ensure its students benefit from the scheme. He stressed the need for the institution’s prompt onboarding onto the NELFUND portal to enable eligible students access the loan facility.

In his response, the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, appreciated the visit and reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to inclusivity and equitable access for all eligible tertiary institutions across the country.

He assured the delegation that NELFUND remains focused on expanding its coverage to accommodate more institutions, including newly established universities.
