Governor David Umahi has urged Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar and others who contested with President-elect, Ahmed Tinubu in the recently concluded elections to withdraw their suits challenging the election and embrace peace as well as join hands to rebuild Nigeria.

Umahi made the call in a Statewide broadcast and Press Conference held Wednesday at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Abakaliki.

The Governor charged them to see Tinubu and Shettima’s victory as the will of God, and admonished them against unnecessary litigations.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmud Yakubu for the invaluable innovations brought into Nigeria’s electoral process.

He maintained that the innovations would progressively improve Nigeria’s electioneering process, adding that the paramount concern of every political leader should be nation building after elections.

“Let me officially congratulate the President-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima for the glorious victory God granted them.

“I plead with our brother, His Excellency Peter Obi and His Excellency, the former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to accept the verdict of God and join hands with the President-elect and his Vice to move Nigeria forward.”

Governor Umahi, while congratulating the State Governor-elect, Right Honourable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, appreciated Ebonyi people for their well placed solidarity which gave victory to the All Progressives Congress.

He further congratulated his brother Governors, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and Babajide Sanwolu for their successful outings in their States during Saturday March 18 elections.

While congratulating the APC family at the National and State levels for the victories, Umahi urged the elected to be magnanimous in victory by accommodating opposition parties.

He insisted that all those who were arrested for breach of election codes would surely face justice.

“We thank God very very highly, and let me thank Ebonyi people from my heart for trusting us; for believing in us; for voting for APC.

“Now that victory is here, it is time to work for this Nation; it is time to rebuild the nation.

“Let me thank the APC family and urge them to be magnanimous in victory by extending hands of fellowship to other Candidates.”END//
