The University of Benin has expressed deep appreciation to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for the success of its recent student loan sensitization programme held on campus.

In a letter dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, the institution commended the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akinlunde Sawyerr, for his impactful participation and contribution to the event.
The university noted that the sensitization programme, held on March 12, 2026, attracted a large turnout of students and staff and was widely well-received across the campus community. It highlighted that the CEO’s presence as guest speaker and his insightful presentation helped clarify key aspects of the student loan scheme.
According to the letter, the interactive session that followed provided valuable opportunities for participants to raise concerns and gain better understanding of the loan initiative. The institution emphasized that the enthusiasm displayed by students underscored the programme’s effectiveness in boosting awareness and encouraging participation.
UNIBEN also appreciated NELFUND’s commitment to supporting its internal structures responsible for managing the loan scheme, particularly through the provision of equipment to aid operations. The university expressed confidence that such support would enhance the ease and efficiency of loan applications for students.
Reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to education financing, the university expressed optimism about sustaining collaboration with NELFUND. It added that the partnership would continue to strengthen educational opportunities not only within the institution but across Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
