    Police deploy 1,803 personnel across FCT

    The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel across the territory to ensure a hitch-free 2026 Easter celebration.
    The FCT Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh made this known in a statement on Saturday in Abuja

    Adeh said the deployment also included operational assets, adding that churches and recreational centres across the FCT would be covered.
    According to her, this proactive measure is designed to reinforce existing policing efforts and ensure the safety of worshippers and residents throughout the festive period.
    “The deployment includes enhanced visibility policing, intelligence-led operations, coordinated vehicular and foot patrols, and continuous monitoring, aimed at prompt detection and prevention of criminal activities.

    “In addition, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Units have been tasked with conducting routine sweeps of major public and recreational locations to mitigate potential security threats,” the spokesperson said.

    Adeh added that the FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmed Sanusi, extended his felicitation to Christians across the territory.
    According to the statement, Sanusi also urged residents to embrace the spirit of Easter by promoting peace, unity, and mutual respect.

    He also enjoined residents to remain law-abiding and encouraged religious leaders to continue preaching messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
    Sanusi pledged the committment of the command to the protection of lives and property before, during, and after the celebrations.
    The CP also called for sustained cooperation with the police and other security agencies to ensure a hitch-free festive period.
