Former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant development in the state’s political landscape.

In a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026, and addressed to the Ward Chairman of the APC in Ezinihitte Ward, Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Madumere announced his immediate withdrawal from the ruling party.

Describing the decision as “difficult,” the former deputy governor said it followed “deep personal reflection” on his political journey within the APC. He noted that the move had become necessary as he seeks to “explore new paths.”

Madumere, a prominent political figure in Imo State, expressed gratitude for the relationships he built during his time in the party. He emphasized his desire for continued cordial relations with party members, despite his departure.

“It is my utmost desire and expectation that we all continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built together over the years, in our collective desire to build a better Nigeria,” the letter read.

The resignation has sparked speculation about Madumere’s next political move, though he did not indicate any immediate plans to join another party.

Prince Eze Madumere served as Deputy Governor of Imo State and remains an influential figure in the region’s politics. Political observers say his exit from the APC could have implications for party dynamics ahead of future elections in the state.
