A prominent Nigerian political figure, Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, has strongly dismissed a viral image circulating on social media that allegedly links him to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as “fake, manipulated, and malicious.”

In a statement addressed to his supporters, associates, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alkali said the image falsely portrays him at a PDP-related gathering, despite having no knowledge of such an event. He emphasized that the content was deliberately fabricated to mislead the public and tarnish his political standing.

Alkali noted that the timing of the image’s circulation was particularly suspicious, as it coincided with his active participation in the APC National Convention held on March 27, 2026, at Eagle Square. According to him, he was not merely an attendee but served as Chairman of the Rapporteur and Proceedings Sub-Committee, contributing to the successful organization of the event.

The former National Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) reiterated that he formally resigned from the PDP nearly a decade ago, alongside notable figures such as Jerry Gana, Tunde Adeniran, and Shehu Gabam. Since then, he said his political alignment has remained consistent and transparent.

Alkali, who joined the APC after stepping down from the NNPP leadership in 2023, described the allegations as “illogical” and part of a “desperate attempt” by unidentified individuals to create confusion and stir controversy.

He urged the public to disregard the image entirely, assuring supporters that he remains committed to the APC and its objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections. He also hinted at a forthcoming political initiative, code-named “Tinubu 2 Terms – Forward Nigeria, 2027,” aimed at strengthening the party’s prospects.
