Paul Onuachu Rejects Big Saudi Offer To Stay At Trabzonspor

Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu has turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, choosing to remain with Trabzonspor despite mounting transfer interest.

Paul Onuachu, 31, who moved from Southampton last summer, is enjoying a superb campaign in Turkey. He has scored 23 goals in 27 appearances, making him one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers.

Onuachu who helped Nigeria finish third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) went on a blistering 10-game scoring run before it ended against Eyüpspor last week.

Reports by NTV Spor revealed the Nigerian international received a huge proposal from a Saudi club.

“The Saudi club reportedly proposed a salary four times higher than his current earnings, but Onuachu rejected the offer,” the outlet reported.

Trabzonspor have since taken a firm stance, insisting the striker is not for sale.

“Trabzonspor has decided not to sell Onuachu despite interest from Europe. With a contract running until 2028, plus a one-year option, Trabzonspor will retain the striker, effectively closing the transfer chapter on him,” NTV Spor added.

Interest remains strong across Europe and Asia. Fotomac claims Juventus, Stade Rennais and Al Ahli are monitoring his situation closely.

“Onuachu is expected to have an active summer transfer window with Juventus, Stade Rennais and Al Ahli being the clubs to take action for the Nigerian striker,” Fotomac reported.

“Although it is not considered a long-term investment due to his age of 31, he offers a haven for the clubs with his physical strength and scoring guarantee.”

Onuachu is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Antalya ahead of friendlies against Iran and Jordan. The clash with Iran will kick off at 2 p.m. later today, March 26.
