Uk State visit: Nigeria out of dark tunnel – Tinubu

    Published on

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, addressed Nigerians in London during the Nigeria Modernism Exhibition, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to renewing hope and building a brighter future.

Speaking to a gathering of Nigerians in the diaspora and dignitaries, President Tinubu said, “We were elected to renew hope so we come to renew everybody’s hope and that hope resonates with a lot of Nigerians.

“As I stand before you, I can tell you that we have navigated our way out of a dark tunnel, a tunnel of economic uncertainty and the hopelessness of the past. Today, we look toward a bright future that we want to bring to every Nigerian.”

He acknowledged the contributions of Nigerians living and working abroad, particularly in the UK.

“Like the deputy prime minister said, the millions of Nigerians working here are contributing significantly to the economy here in the UK and back home,” he stated, adding that he remains confident in Nigeria’s economic potential despite some critical financial ratings.

Tinubu challenged the narratives about African economies, saying, “I disagree with what some credit ratings say about the African economy.

“The challenge is not about the people surrounding the indices; it is about generating our own indices. It is our determination to define who we are and where we are headed.”

He concluded with a call to embrace positivity and progress: “It is you and I who must embrace what is positive about Africa, particularly Nigeria, and I promise you I will continue to be that inspiring leader. We have come to renew everybody’s hope.”
