Voters in the Federal Capital Territory have defied the first rain of the year, insisting that sorting and counting will continue under the rain.

As at 4.00pm heavy rain threatened to interrupt the sorting and counting process but some of the voters quickly mobilized umbrellas and make shift canopies for the official so that they can continue with the election process.

One of the voters whose name is Chibuzo who is an ardent supporter of the labour party, said that he can even go to the extent to rent canopy for the officials to ensure that the process was not interrupted.

He said “Labour Party and Peter Obi is already winning in this polling unit and this rain has come to scatter everything. We thank God for ushering in the rain on this historic day. The implication is that the victory of Peter Obi carries Divine support.

“But we shall not allow this natural gift to mar our efforts. Our people have already mobilized umbrellas and other necessary rains protective equipment to ensure that the officials are not affected and the ballot papers are not soaked.

“We shall provide all the necessary support to ensure that this process is completed under the rain. The rain is just a confirmation of the fact that a new Nigeria is already on the way”
