    SUBEB, UBEC train 100 education officers in Ogun to improve basic standards

    Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has organised a 5-day third-level capacity-building training for Education Quality Assurance Officers, EQAO, drawn from SUBEB and the 20 Local Government Education Authorities, LGEAs, across the state.

    The training, which took place at the Methodist Primary School, Oke-Yeke, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, was designed to sharpen the skills of the officers and strengthen education standards in public primary schools across the State.

    Declaring the training with the theme “Continuous Training of Quality Assurance Officers: Solutions for Sustaining Efficiency and Effectiveness of Schools Towards Achieving Better Learning Outcomes,” the Chairman of SUBEB, Olalekan Ifede, said it would equip participants with prerequisite skills and knowledge to drive positive change in schools.

    Ifede who was represented by permanent member of the board, Femi Odufowokan, urged the officers to work in synergy with SUBEB and UBEC to create a ripple effect of excellence in education, noting that the impact would extend beyond learners to the wider community.

    In his goodwill message, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Aisha Garba, and State UBEC coordinator, Sola Badmus, described the training as a demonstration of the strong political will of the Ogun state government to promote effective teaching and learning, commending the state for its consistent commitment to educational development.

    Also speaking, Permanent Member II, Isiaka Aderounmu, encouraged participants to regard their selection as a privilege and a responsibility, urging them to be worthy ambassadors of their respective zones and to intensify efforts at improving literacy and numeracy through effective and regular school monitoring.

    In his remarks, Board Secretary, Mr Olubori Akinleye, described training as a lifelong process, reaffirming the board’s goal of ensuring that all learners in public primary schools can read, write and communicate effectively, adding that the officers play a critical role in sustaining high standards in schools.
