NFF staff hold anti-corruption walk to mark awareness day

Members of the Management and Staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday staged an enlightenment walk around the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, to commemorate the 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day.

The event featured the NFF Desk Officer for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mallam Abdulrahman Maigari, who joined several NFF directors including Dr. Ademola Olajire (Media & Communications), Ms. Ruth David (Competitions), Mr. Barnabas Joro (Protocol), Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman (Competitions), and Hajia Amina Daura (Women’s Football), among other senior staff.

Head of the NFF Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), Barr. Queen Otarakpo, highlighted the significance of the day, noting that corruption “is a barrier to development, a threat to institutional integrity, and an enemy of public trust.”

She stressed the ACTU’s commitment to promoting a culture where integrity is non-negotiable, transparency is standard, and accountability is shared.
“Corruption survives where silence prevails,” she said, urging staff to uphold ethical standards in their daily duties.

Maigari reaffirmed that enlightenment and prevention remain the most effective components of ICPC’s mandate and commended the NFF for its active role in anti-corruption advocacy.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi (MON), praised the ACTU for its diligence and proactive approach.

“There are little things we do that we are unaware could be anti-corruption,” he said, adding that sustained enlightenment helps institutions stay better guided.
