PDP will bounce back, field strong candidates in 2027 — Olaifa

    Published on

Chief Sunday Olaifa, Vice Chairman (West) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, says the party will resolve its internal conflicts ahead of the 2027 general elections and remain competitive across all major political contests.

Speaking with NAN in Lagos, Olaifa — who also leads the New Era Political Movement — expressed confidence that despite ongoing litigation and leadership disputes, the PDP will field credible contenders for governorship, legislative, and senate seats in 2027.

“Yes, PDP will overcome its internal crisis before the 2027 elections. No matter how the cases move — even if they go as far as the Supreme Court — the party will remain functional,” he said.

Olaifa added that nobody in the party has the power to impose a presidential candidate, stressing that only the PDP as an institution can determine its flagbearer.

Reaffirming his loyalty, he said neither he nor his supporters would abandon the party: “We remain committed to the PDP. Leaving is not on the table.”

His comments come amid a wave of defections by PDP governors and lawmakers to the ruling APC, fueled by the party’s protracted leadership crisis.
