APC has failed Nigeria, Atiku fires back at Oshiomhole over criticism

    Published on

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s remarks questioning his political capacity, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of monumental failure and internal decay.

Atiku’s response, issued through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, came a day after Oshiomhole mocked his defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Oshiomhole had claimed on Channels Television that Atiku lacked the ability to reform any political party, noting his history of leaving parties after losing presidential primaries.

But Atiku’s camp dismissed the senator’s comments, insisting that the former Edo governor lacked the moral authority to judge him.

“Oshiomhole’s attempt to question Atiku’s capacity is nothing more than a tired distraction from the monumental failures of the APC—the very party he helped foist on Nigeria,” Shaibu said.
“Atiku was vice president, not national chairman of the PDP. Leadership in a democratic party is not a dictatorship.”

Atiku further alleged that the APC destroyed party supremacy, silenced dissent, and turned itself into a personal estate.
“If Oshiomhole seeks the man who ‘fixed a party’ into a personal empire, he needs only look at the godfather he serves.”

Listing his achievements, Atiku said he led major economic reforms as chairman of the National Economic Council, strengthening private-sector growth and stabilising key institutions.

He then questioned the APC’s record:
“If the APC could not fix Nigeria after eight wasted years and nearly three years of Tinubu, what moral authority does Oshiomhole have to comment on leadership?”

Atiku formally joined the ADC on Monday at Jada 1 Ward in Adamawa State, months after resigning from the PDP over irreconcilable differences. The event drew top political figures including former Governor Bindow Jibrilla and Senator Aishatu Binani.
