NAF destroys high-ground terrorist base in major precision strike in Zamfara

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a major blow to terrorist operations in Zamfara State after executing a successful precision airstrike on a fortified bandit stronghold in Tsafe Local Government Area.

The strike, carried out on 14 November 2025 by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeted the Sauri camp, an elevated hideout used by terrorists as both a defensive position and a logistics hub.

According to NAF authorities, the operation followed days of intensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance that confirmed heightened terrorist activity, including the presence of rustled livestock concealed at the site.

Acting on verified intelligence, air assets conducted multiple coordinated strike runs, delivering direct hits that dismantled the camp’s core structures and sent surviving fighters scattering into surrounding bushland. Those attempting to flee were tracked through sustained surveillance and subsequently neutralised.

Initial battle damage assessments indicate the elimination of numerous terrorists and the destruction of critical facilities within the camp, a development expected to significantly disrupt criminal operations in the area.

The operation, NAF said, reflects the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who has repeatedly vowed to pursue terrorists relentlessly. His leadership mantra, “find them, hunt them down, and protect our people” continues to guide intensified air operations across the North West.

Friday’s strike forms part of broader efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to deny armed groups freedom of movement, dismantle their logistics networks, and reinforce security in Zamfara and neighbouring states.

NAF authorities emphasised that the operation strengthens ongoing national security efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in communities long affected by terrorist activity.
