The National Working Committee (NWC) and the 2025 National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have reaffirmed that the party’s national convention will proceed as planned this weekend despite a court order seeking to halt it.
In a joint statement signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary and NCOC Subcommittee Secretary for Publicity and Communication, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party dismissed reports suggesting the event had been postponed.
The statement confirmed that the convention will hold from Saturday, November 15, to Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
“The NWC and NCOC urge party members and the general public to disregard false claims being circulated by individuals recruited by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in its failed bid to derail our convention,” Ologunagba stated.
He accused the ruling party of plotting to destabilize the opposition and impose a one-party system, adding that the PDP “will lawfully resist any such attempt.”
Ologunagba assured that preparations for the convention were in full swing, with delegates, leaders, and supporters already arriving in Ibadan.
“The PDP remains united and focused on ensuring a successful national convention. We thank Nigerians for their overwhelming support,” the statement concluded.
