A Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja has affirmed Hon. Muhammed Sani Gambo as the Kogi State People’s Democratic Party Chairman.
Delivering a consequential judgement, in suit no. FRC,/LKJ/CS/39/2024, Justice Isah A. Danshan, of the Federal High Court Lokoja on Monday declared Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo as the duly elected Chairman of Kogi State PDP.
In the suit between Hon. Gambo vs the PDP, PDP Kogi State chapter, Enemona Anyebe and INEC, the Judge ordered the immediate swearing in of Hon. Gambo, pointing out that nature abhors vacuum.
The Judge ordered all the necessary security agencies to ensure the immediate swearing in of the Chairman, compelled the National leadership of the PDP, other concerned authorities to recognize Hon. Gambo as the duly elected Chairman of Kogi PDP.
Recall that Hon. Gambo finished second in the last August 31st, 2024 Congress of the PDP. The alleged winner in that election, Enemona Anyebe was earlier barred from contesting in the Congress.
The Judge said following the fact on the INEC results sheets, said the party having maintained it zoning arrangement, declared that Hon. Gambo, having pulled majority of valid votes, as the Kogi State PDP Chairman.
The Judge dismissed the suit of joinder by Tony Amego, who sought to be declared as winner by reasons of Micro zoning as null and void, adding that his suit lacks merit and undemocratic.
In his remarks, Hon. Muhammed Sani Gambo, described the judgement as a no victor no vanquished judgment, pointing out that his victory is for all.
The new Chairman promised to reposition the Party ahead the 2027 General election, urged his co-contestants to join hands with him to build the PDP for victory in 2027.
The new Chairman promised that the PDP will bounce back, take over Lugard House as well as the Presidency in 2027, described the PDP as the Party for Nigerians.
Recall that Gambo finished second behind Enemona Anyebe who had earlier been disqualified from participating in the Congress as he was under suspension prior to the Congress.
So he was not eligible to contest in August 2024.
Despite this Anyebe went ahead to purchase the form.
However,he was declared unfit to contest by a court ruling as he was not eligible to contest as he did not vacate the earlier judgement making all his votes declared null and void.
The second person Hon. Gambo said he pulled the valid highest vote for which the court affirmed.
The court also ruled that Enemona who is currently serving as Chairman has been ordered to vacate office while machineries must be set in motion to sear in the rightful winner, Mohammed Sani Gambo.
