Obi calls for peaceful, transparent Anambra guber poll

    Published on

Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has called for transparency, fairness, and peace in Saturday’s November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.

Speaking to journalists at his Agulu residence in Anaocha Local Government Area, Obi urged voters to participate actively and political actors to conduct themselves responsibly.

“My interest in this election is a peaceful process before, during, and after. Whoever wins, wins for ndi Anambra and the development of the state,” he said.

Obi described all major candidates—including incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo (APGA), Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC), and Labour Party’s Chief George Moghalu—as friends, but said he would support his party’s candidate.

He appealed to INEC and security agencies to uphold neutrality and professionalism, while stakeholders called for credible elections free of vote-buying.

CLEEN Foundation, election observers, and candidates from multiple parties echoed calls for discipline, lawful conduct, and early deployment of electoral materials.

AAC candidate Chioma Ifemeludike described the poll as “an acid test” for INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, urging him to “make history by ensuring the votes count.”
