Jonathan, Shettima to lead changemakers summit celebrating Nigerians’ redefining development

In a rare show of unity across Nigeria’s political divide, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and Vice President Kashim Shettima are set to lead the Nigeria Changemakers Award Summit 2025, a national platform celebrating integrity, innovation, and leadership shaping the nation’s future.

Scheduled for November 6, 2025, at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess & Suites, Asokoro, Abuja, the summit—organised by the Green Assembly Initiative (GAI), will bring together reform-minded leaders, entrepreneurs, and youth advocates under the theme ‘Honouring patriots by recognising excellence in leadership and nation-building.’

Jonathan will deliver the keynote address, while Shettima will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, alongside Hon. Ayodele Olawande Wisdom, Minister of Youth Development, as the Chief Host.

According to the Convener, Comrade (Dr.) Duke Alamboye K., the event transcends an award ceremony—it is a movement that seeks to redefine leadership values in Nigeria.

“We are recognising Nigerians who have refused to do things the old way—leaders who innovate, act with integrity, and drive real progress. Amid hardship and uncertainty, many are quietly rebuilding confidence in our national journey. These are the true changemakers,” Alamboye said.

He explained that the selection process covered multiple sectors, from governance and entrepreneurship to technology, real estate, banking, and manufacturing—identifying individuals and organisations whose work strengthens the economy and inspires public trust.

Highlighting indigenous innovation, Alamboye cited JAC Motors, Innoson, and GAC Motors as examples of local enterprises driving industrialization through practical solutions tailored to Nigeria’s realities.

“We can’t keep relying on imports when we have capable innovators here. These awards are about celebrating self-reliance and patriotism,” he said.

The 2025 Changemakers Summit will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and the presentation of awards to exceptional Nigerians across public and private sectors.

Organisers describe it as “a day of honour” — celebrating patriots whose courage, creativity, and commitment continue to redefine Nigeria’s development narrative.
