Juventus sack Tudor after poor run of results

    Published on

Juventus have sacked head coach Igor Tudor following a poor run that saw the team collect just five points from their last five Serie A matches, culminating in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Lazio.

The club announced the decision in a statement on Monday, confirming that men’s first-team coach Massimo Brambilla will take charge temporarily for Wednesday’s match against Udinese.

“Juventus Football Club announces that it has today relieved Igor Tudor of his duties as head coach, along with his staff consisting of Ivan Javorcic, Tomislav Rogic, and Riccardo Ragnacci,” the statement read.

“The Club also announces that it has temporarily entrusted the Men’s First Team to Massimo Brambilla. The Club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication and wishes them the best in their future careers.”

Juventus currently sit eighth in Serie A, six points behind leaders Napoli, and rank 25th in the Champions League standings after one draw and two losses in their first three games.

Tudor, a former Croatia international and ex-Juventus player, took charge in March following Thiago Motta’s departure. Under his tenure, Juventus recorded 10 wins, eight draws, and six defeats — one of the worst spells in the club’s recent history, despite an active transfer window that saw €130 million spent on new players.

The team has not won a match since September 10 and is on an eight-game winless streak, failing to score in the last four fixtures.
