    Published on

The security agencies in Anambra State have pledged their readiness to work collectively under the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) framework ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.

They made the pledge during a situation room meeting at the Police Command Headquarters, Awka hosted by the command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu.

The agencies, including: Nigerian Army, DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, NDLEA, NIS, Fire Service and Correctional Services said such collaboration was necessary to ensure voters’ safety and maintenance of public order before, during, and after the poll.

Earlier, Orutugu said the engagement, in furtherance of the ICCES directives, provided platform for strategic review and coordination of security arrangements ahead of the election,

The CP represented by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel, reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible election in the state.

“The meeting provided a platform for strategic review and coordination of security arrangements ahead of the election, ensuring seamless inter-agency collaboration, effective deployment, and intelligence sharing,” he explained.

Orutugu, who stressed that security during elections remained a shared responsibility that requires professionalism, neutrality, and dedication, emphasised the need for synergy among all security agencies.

“The Situation Room, established at the Command Headquarters, will serve as the central hub for real-time monitoring, coordination, and response to any security developments during the election period,” the CP added.
