    Published on

The Edo State Cricket Association (ESCA) is set to mark another milestone as the President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Dr. Uyi Akpata, will inaugurate a new indoor cricket facility in Benin City.

The facility, located inside the High-Performance Centre at Iyoba Girls College, Ugbowo, is part of activities marking the grand finale of the Edo Female Cricket League, which concludes on Monday.

This inauguration represents a major stride toward advancing cricket development in Edo State and Nigeria at large.

The highly anticipated grand finale, scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Edo Boys High School, Ugbowo, will feature Emotan Queens — who have already qualified for the final after winning all their matches — awaiting their challengers from Saturday’s decider.

Emotan Queens will face Ekpoma Supernova at 10 a.m., while Idia Royals CC take on Adolor Amazons at 1 p.m. to determine the second finalist.

Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, will attend as Special Guest of Honour, alongside the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Desmond Enabulele.

Dr. Akpata, who also chairs the Edo State Cricket Association, will serve as Chief Host. The event begins at 1 p.m. and promises a thrilling display of cricketing excellence.

The Edo Cricket League (ECL) is proudly sponsored by PETS Foundation.
