Over one million 2026 World Cup tickets sold during visa pre-sales phase

    Published on

FIFA has announced that more than one million tickets for the 2026 World Cup have been sold following the conclusion of the Visa pre-sales phase.

Fans from 212 countries and territories purchased tickets during the pre-sale period, which began in mid-September, the world football governing body said in a statement on Thursday.

Demand was led by residents of the three host nations — the United States, Canada, and Mexico — followed by fans from England, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Colombia, Argentina, and France.

“What an exciting milestone on the road to 2026,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said. “Surpassing the one-million-ticket mark after the Visa pre-sales is fantastic proof of the global excitement surrounding the most ambitious and inclusive FIFA World Cup ever.”

So far, 28 teams have qualified for the tournament, which will feature 48 nations and 104 matches across 16 cities in the three host countries — a historic first for the competition.

FIFA said the first public ticket sales phase will open on October 27, offering single-match tickets, stadium-specific packages, and team-specific bundles. An official resale platform has also been launched to protect fans from invalid or unauthorized transactions.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will mark the first time the global showpiece is hosted jointly by three countries — the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
