Black Stars set for Asian tour ahead 2025 AFCON, 2026 World Cup

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the Black Stars will embark on a two-match tour of Asia next month as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Head coach Otto Addo will use the trip to assess his squad and fine-tune tactics ahead of next year’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the World Cup.

Ghana will kick off the tour on November 14 against Japan in the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup, before facing South Korea four days later on November 18.

The fixtures bring together three teams already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, offering Ghana a valuable test against fellow contenders.

The four-time African champions sealed qualification with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Addo said the Asian tour will provide a vital opportunity to evaluate player readiness and strengthen team chemistry. “This is an important phase in our build-up to the World Cup,” he said.

The matches will also serve as a benchmark to gauge how the Black Stars measure up against the pace, discipline, and tactical intelligence of top Asian sides — qualities similar to what they might face on the global stage.
