PDP disappointed by Gov Mbah’s defection — Ologunagba

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is disappointed by the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, who spoke on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Wednesday, urged serving PDP governors to remain steadfast and recognise their roles as leaders entrusted with the people’s mandate.

“The PDP is utterly disappointed by those actions, having regard to what we know behind the scenes. But people have the right to decide what they want to do — and the consequences will follow,” he said.

Ologunagba acknowledged that the party was aware of “moles” working against its progress but expressed confidence that the forthcoming national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November would rejuvenate and reposition the PDP for future elections.

“There are people from within our fold undermining the party. We recognise that, but we are dealing with it,” he said. “We are focused on Nigerians, not individuals. The party’s strength lies with the people.”

He added that the convention would produce a new National Working Committee “with character, integrity, and courage” to steer the party forward.

“You must have a party before you can talk about candidates. Our goal is to build a solid foundation for Nigerians to have a real choice,” he concluded.
