The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reiterated the need for strategic partnerships as a key driver for unlocking value, enhancing sustainability, and promoting commercialization in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
Speaking at the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week, held at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Tuesday, Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari—represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mr. Mumuni Dagazau—highlighted the crucial role of collaboration in shaping a resilient and future-ready downstream industry.
Describing the downstream landscape as one undergoing transformation and reform, Ojulari emphasized that partnerships across the value chain are necessary to address current challenges and seize emerging opportunities.
“Africa’s energy demand is expected to grow significantly in the coming years, with Nigeria positioned at the forefront,” Ojulari stated. “This requires a coordinated approach and shared responsibility to ensure inclusive and long-term sectoral growth.”
Domestically, he reaffirmed NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to maintaining fuel availability, offering competitive pricing, and upholding quality standards across its retail network nationwide.
He further stressed that the path to a sustainable economy lies in joint efforts across supply partnerships, infrastructure co-investments, security collaborations, host community engagement, and broader operational alliances.
“The opportunity to create a sustainable economy for today and the future is hinged on everyone getting involved in building a promising future for Nigeria,” he said.
Ojulari also commended the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) for organizing the forum, which was themed: “Celebrating Our Successes, Confronting Our Challenges, and Finding Solutions for the Petroleum Downstream Sector.”
He assured stakeholders that NNPC Ltd., as both a commercial and national energy entity, remains committed to championing stakeholder collaboration and driving innovative models for sector-wide development.
The event brought together key players in the downstream petroleum industry, policymakers, and legislators, underscoring the importance of dialogue in shaping Nigeria’s energy future.
