The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced a two-week total and comprehensive warning strike affecting all public universities nationwide.

ASUU National President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, made the announcement on Sunday during a press briefing at the University of Abuja.

“Compatriots of the press, it goes without saying that there is nothing sufficient on ground to stop the implementation of the ASUU-NEC’s resolution to embark on a two-week warning strike at the expiry of the 14-day notice given on the 28th of September, 2025,” Piwuna said.

He stated that all ASUU branches have been instructed to suspend academic activities and withdraw their services beginning midnight on Monday, October 13, 2025

According to him, the action will be “total and comprehensive” as resolved at the union’s last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

The strike is part of ASUU’s continued push for the Federal Government to address outstanding issues related to university funding, staff welfare, and other pending agreements.
