A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kebbi State governorship aspirant, Mallam Salihu Isa Nataro, has called for a Dangote–Otti presidential ticket in 2027, describing it as a pairing that could help stabilise Nigeria’s fragile economy.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Nataro said Nigeria needed “leaders with a firm grasp of economic management” to tackle rising unemployment, hunger, and poverty.
“If Aliko Dangote, having stepped down as chairman in some of his companies, decides to contest alongside Dr. Alex Otti, Nigerians will rally behind them to industrialise the country within a short period,” he said.
The APC stalwart urged state governments to prioritise vocational education and agriculture-based industries, warning that neglecting these sectors fuels youth restiveness.
He praised Governor Alex Otti for his “results-driven approach” to governance in Abia State, particularly his efforts to attract low-interest credit facilities abroad for development projects.
Nataro also lauded Aliko Dangote’s industrial achievements, saying his management experience could guide Nigeria toward sustainable economic recovery.
“Dangote’s leadership in Africa’s industrial landscape shows the power of vision and discipline,” he said. “His understanding of enterprise and Otti’s reformist zeal could transform Nigeria’s economy.”
On fiscal policy, Nataro cautioned against aggressive revenue drives by states, especially the blanket collection of ground rent and Certificate of Occupancy fees in the FCT.
“Revenue generation must be done wisely,” he said. “Collection of accumulated ground rent should be spread in instalments to avoid overburdening residents and businesses.”
He called on President Bola Tinubu to review the performance of his appointees and enforce greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability across ministries and agencies.
