    Police holds explosive ordinance risk awareness, sensitisation campaign in Kogi

    The Kogi state police command, through its explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) base 33, Lokoja, in collaboration with the National sssociation of scrap and waste dealers employers of Nigeria (NASWDEN), Kogi state chapter,has organized an Explosive Ordnance Risk Awareness and Sensitization Campaign in Lokoja.

    This was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the command’s spokesman, SP William Aya and made available to newsmen in Lokoja.

    The event was said to have been held last Saturday.

    According to him,”The campaign was aimed at enlightening scrap and waste dealers, as well as members of the public, on the dangers associated with handling explosive materials and the importance of safety precautions in their daily operations.

    The lead facilitator, CSP Danladi Ameh, Commander EOD Base 33, Lokoja delivered an insightful lecture to a large audience, sensitizing them on identification, risks, and safe management of explosive related objects often mistaken for scrap materials”. Aya said.

    ” He emphasized the need for timely reporting of suspicious metallic items and adherence to safety protocols to prevent avoidable loss of lives and properties.” The command’s spokesman noted.

    He said that the program provided participants with practical knowledge on how to recognize potential explosive ordnance, the appropriate response mechanisms, and the importance of partnership between security agencies and stakeholders in maintaining public safety.

    ” The command is determined to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges members of the public, especially those in the scrap and waste business, to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to prevent explosive-related incidents in the state.”Aya added
